Experience in System Administration? Have skills in Ruby and PHP?
Do you want to be part of a growing, fast-paced business that wants to make a positive difference in our clients lives?

Give OutsourcingThingsDone a shot, and we can guarantee you'll be tested and put up to the task.

Salary is competitive and is commensurate with experience. Bonuses are available if you can show us what the meaning of hard work ethic is all about.

We are currently looking to add Web Developers to our expanding team and seek motivated individuals who are ready to jump into a busy and interesting field.

If you want to share your knowledge while learning from others, work on serious projects used by thousands of clients, we think you'll have a great time with us.

We specialize in Agile PHP and Ruby Development for our own in-house projects.

You will be working on both Ruby and PHP projects as well as help out with System Administration for those projects.

We believe that everyone on the team should have a simillar base skill set (this way the System Admin knows what the Developer is doing and vice versa). Because of that, we're looking for strong web developers (Ruby/PHP/JavaScript) but at the same time, we're looking for those same people to have strong System Admin skills to complement their skill set.

We don't expect everyone to do System Admin, but we also don't believe its enough of a job to fill a person's schedule entirely, so we've come up with 3 different focuses:

* The System Admin Focus -- These Developers are System Admin Ninjas, but also have strong all around skills in PHP and Ruby.
* The Ruby Focus -- These Developers are Ruby Ninjas, but also have strong all around skills in PHP and System Admin.
* The PHP Focus -- These Developers are PHP Ninjas, but also have strong all around skills in Ruby and System Admin.

We're looking for an individual who:

* Has 2+ years experience working with PHP and related technologies.
* Has 2+ years experience working with Ruby on Rails and related technologies.
* Has 3+ years experience working with Linux Servers, Web Hosting on Linux, PHP/Rails Deployment, Scalable High Availability Web Deployments, or similar technologies on Linux.
* Has 3+ years experience with DHTML (HTML+JavaScript+CSS) and best practices surrounding those technologies.
* Has recently worked with Centos, Ubuntu and atleast possessing some understand of Gentoo Linux distributions.
* (bonus) Has worked with Amazon Web Services, especially Amazon S3 and Amazon EC2 (or really wants to learn).
* (bonus) Has experience with RightScale for EC2 management.
* Wants to work in an Agile team of developers contributing towards the team's goals.

Highlights:

* We work in Ruby and PHP.
* We use git for Source Version Control for everything.
* Our applications are deployed "in the cloud" (on Amazon EC2).
* We're Agile (You get to see your work live soon after its finished).
* We work on top of the line Macs.
* We're very serious about what we do down to little details.
* We don't cut corners.
* We're great, but not perfect, we constantly strive to be better. Things will often change, but change doesn't have to be a bad thing.

Responsibilities:

We're ever improving so these responsibilities may change with time, simply put, we can't guarantee what you will be working 6 months from now, or a year from now. If you have what it takes you will probably be having a great time doing whatever you're doing if you stick with us.

* You will have a schedule you will be expected to keep.

Specifically on the Development Side of things ...

* The majority of our development work is maintenance or improvement of our existing application. (http://ubertor.com)
* Some of these improvements may be multi-week projects, some may be 10 minute fixes.
* You will be working on individual tasks, but you will have the team at your disposal for advice/help should a need arise. Likewise will be expected of you.
* You will be expected to write responsible code keeping in mind the whole system so that it does not adversely impact other systems.

Specifically on the System Admin side ...

* You will be responsible for both dealing with emergencies and setting up monitoring and contingencies to minimize the impact of emergencies.
* You will be setting up systems to visualize what's going on within the cluster as well automated scripts to alert on conditions which are outside of operating norms.
* You will be monitoring the systems for software updates, applying updates, coming up with strategies for minimizing impact on uptime when applying updates.
* You will be looking for ways to better utilize our resources in the cloud, but also to be able to respond to unexpected traffic spikes rapidly.
